Professional Designation Classes are offered throughout the year, not only at national meetings, but also throughout the State of Alabama and locally. Below is information on the types of designations available:
Certified Graduate Associate (CGA)
The CGA certificate program offers associate members an opportunity to enhance their knowledge of the fundamentals of the home building industry while showing their commitment to professionalism in the building industry. The CGA is modeled after the Certified Graduate Builder's comprehensive curriculum delivered through licensed state and local home builder associations.

Certified Graduate Builder (CGB)
The CGB designation requires that graduates meet prescribed standards of practice, possess a minimum of two years building industry experience, have a proven track record of successful project management, complete comprehensive education curriculum, and pledge to uphold the program's code of ethics.

Certified Graduate Remodelor (CGR)
The CGR designation requires that graduates meet prescribed standards of business practice, possess a minimum of five years remodeling industry experience, have a proven track record of successful project management, complete a comprehensive education curriculum, and pledge to uphold the program's code of ethics.

Graduate Master Builder (GMB)
The ultimate symbol of the building professional, the GMB designation is for experienced veterans only. Before beginning the GMB designation process, you must have the CGB designation, the CGR designation, or the CGA designation with five years of building experience, or ten years of building experience and have completed three CGB/CGR/CGA courses. GMB courses are more advanced with in-depth instruction geared for experienced building professionals.

Graduate Master Remodelor (GMR)
The GMR designation allows recognized CGRs to attain further recognition for their commitment to educational excellence and longevity in the remodeling industry. This new program is designed to be the master level of the current CGR designation. It allows you the opportunity to take your CGR designation to the next level. To apply for this designation, the Remodelor must hold an active CGR designation for 9 years and have 15 years remodeling industry experience.

Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS)
The CAPS designation program teaches the technical, business management, and customer service skills essential to competing in the fastest growing segment of the residential remodeling industry: home modifications for the aging-in-place.

Certified Green Professional (CGP)
The CGP designation recognizes builders, remodelers and other industry professionals who incorporate green building principles into homes- without driving up the cost of construction. Classwork leading to the designation provides a solid background in green building methods, as well as the tools to reach consumers, from the organization leading the charge to provide market-driven green building solutions to the home building industry.

Certified New Home Sales Professional (CSP)
The CSP designation is the first designation available through The Institute of Residential Marketing. CSP was designed for specialists in new home sales to enhance their professional image, increase their marketability in the home building industry and sell more homes!
